smoke & dreams

19 f ; Not lost, just wandering

Damn it Joe! Why did you let me forget something!! Like the most important thing too!!!

Couldn’t find my good stockings so wearing crappy ones and they keep falling should of put on my garter belt

I kept having really weird dreams that were like continuations of each other like I would wake up and go back to sleep and continue the dream. And like it was this really big ugly guy who goes around and kills and eats people? But no one believes me but people keep going missing and then he catches on to me and tried to steal my wallet and shit to get my info but I chase him down and shit it was really weird a lot of people I know where in it too. Weird

Whatever you now find weird, ugly, uncomfortable and nasty about a new medium will surely become its signature. CD distortion, the jitteriness of digital video, the crap sound of 8-bit - all of these will be cherished and emulated as soon as they can be avoided. It’s the sound of failure: so much modern art is the sound of things going out of control, of a medium pushing to its limits and breaking apart. The distorted guitar sound is the sound of something too loud for the medium supposed to carry it. The blues singer with the cracked voice is the sound of an emotional cry too powerful for the throat that releases it. The excitement of grainy film, of bleached-out black and white, is the excitement of witnessing events too momentous for the medium assigned to record them.

I like the dark part of the night, after midnight and before four-thirty, when it’s hollow, when ceilings are harder and farther away. Then I can breathe, and can think while others are sleeping, in a way can stop time, can have it so – this has always been my dream – so that while everyone else is frozen, I can work busily about them, doing whatever it is that needs to be done, like the elves who make the shoes while children sleep.

the part in 1999 where prince says “life is just a party and parties weren’t meant to last” like fucks me up and throws me into an existential crisis
